Worlds Collide

What is Worlds Collide and where's it located?

Worlds Collide is located in prosperous downtown Oshawa, a city 30 minutes east of Toronto, Ontario. We are Oshawa's oldest comic shop; having run in many different locations throughout the city for over 20 years. Our store deals extensively with comics, graphic novels, board games, role-playing games, Magic The Gathering, manga and anime. To compliment these sections, Worlds Collide covers all bases with employees specializing in their own areas. We're open 7 days a week, and additionally have booths at most of the major Comic/Anime conventions in the Toronto area (like AnimeNorth and SFX).

We're located at 80 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa, about 10 minutes north of the Simcoe street exit on the 401. For more specific driving directions, check out Mapquest. If you're in the area, stop in and see us!

You have employees specializing in areas, eh?

Yes. While we all know things about everything in the store, we each have our areas of expertise in which we are unparalleled by our co-workers. How undeniably spooky.

Tim, the store owner, knows all and sees all in the realm of North American comics, like your DC or Marvel titles, as well as graphic novels like Sin City, Transmetropolitan and Cerberus.

Mark is the games expert. He's phenomenally knowledgeable on the topic of Magic The Gathering and is the organizer of the random Saturday Type 1/Vintage tournaments we hold. He's also approachable about D&D, other RPG's and the various board games we carry.

Ash is the anime and manga specialist. She's familiar with most popular titles, as well as the more obscure or tasty-- even the new wave of yaoi manga. Additionally, she has experience with materials required to make manga, including screen tones and the like. Aspiring manga-ka should hit her up for a quick how-to.

What is a file?

We offer a free "membership" service for customers who wish to preorder comics, graphic novels, manga, games, DVD's, or any other products our distributors carry. The main purpose of the file is to preorder on-going series of comics, graphic novels and DVD's, so that the customer does not need to worry about missing an issue or volume of their favorite titles.

How do I open a file with Worlds Collide?

All that is required to open a file is a name, phone number, and a list of desired items. A deposit may be required to preorder expensive or unusual items. If you wish to open a file, simply email us with the required info (or call, or come on down) and we'll start you up.

What are my responsibilities as a file holder at Worlds Collide?

Customers who maintain a file and pick up their orders on a monthly (at least) basis will be rewarded with a 10% discount on all comics and graphic novels. The rules are quite simple: You keep picking them up, and we'll keep putting them away. If you know you will be unable to purchase your orders for an extended period due to holidays, temporary cash crunch, or being kidnapped by aliens, let us know so arrangements can be made.

If ever you get tired of a comic series, please tell us to remove that from the pull list. We always always take pull list adjustments. On the same line of thinking, if you ever wish to cancel your file entirely, it is your responsibility as a file holder to contact us to tell us. Otherwise we'll be calling and harassing about comics we keep ordering for you.

Do you buy old comics?

We do... but (and this is a very big but) we deal with the concept on a case-by-case basis. Were you to wish to sell us your old comics you'd have to first contact us and arrange a meeting with Tim, then wrangle up said old comics and bring them into the physical store to have him grade them and assess their worth to us. This is the only way we go about this.

Do you buy Magic Cards?

Sometimes, depending on what they are, the condition they're in, et cetera. Bring them in for Mark to appraise and see if he'll give you an offer. As a standard you can usually get more in trade than you can in cash for your cards.
